Time to celebrate Oscar de la Renta

oscarOscar de la Renta was the legendary designer who made sophistication modern and unfussy. On a Fall September day heading to the Upper East side location to my first de la Renta show in NY, I was definitely not prepared. Not only had I encountered Anna Wintour, every notable PR exec, and noted fashion editor prior to making it to the front row, I couldn’t believe I was still engulfed in the love of the decadent location. Only Oscar could choose a place so perfectly fit for the moment. A dome shaped high ceiling reception space was “so him” I thought. As the Spring show began, I remember thinking that experience would remain a fashion career moment for me. Now in more ways than one, I think back to when I’d encounter Oscar and he’d be so gracious and well-put-together, always humbled by the excitement of it all.
